林译小说《撒克逊劫后英雄略》对原著的延伸

The Extension of the Original Work by Lin Shu's Translation of Ivanhoe from the Perspective of Deconstruction

解构主义认为,译文与原文之间并非传统意义上的复制关系,修改和转换使得原文最终得以再生。不乏"增删改译"的"林译小说",是中国文学史上耐人寻味的文化个案。经常遭遇译界诟病的《撒克逊劫后英雄略》林译本,在"不忠实"的背后深藏着译者对原著的一种延伸——林译使原著得以生存,得以发展。

For many years Lin Shu has been having many criticisms due to the addition,deletion,and rewriting in his translation.However deconstruction theory helps for a better understanding of ＂Lin Phenomenon＂.The Deconstructive Translation Theory insists that the original text is not the center;and translation should be a rewriting process in which the original text gets reborn and development.Based on the philosophical idea of deconstruction,this paper tries to analyze the addition,deletion,and rewriting in Lin＇s translation of Ivanhoe and to prove that Lin＇s translation is by no means betrayal to the original work but an extension of it.It not only assists the original work to survive but also helps it to develop.
