Comments on Education Reform from 1901 to 1913 and Its Significance

辛亥革命推翻了清王朝的统治,结束了两千多年的封建君主专制制度,极大地加速了中国教育近代化的步伐。辛亥革命时期,以国民教育为基础的新式教育全面展开;教育体制得以革新;实践教育取得长足进步,这些变革直接推动了近代教育的发展。重新审视辛亥革命时期的教育变革,对当前教育发展具有很强的现实意义。

The Revolution of 1911 overturned the reign of Qing Dynasty and put an end to the feudal autocratic monarchy lasting for over two thousand years in China. As a result, Chinese educational modernization process was quickened, and dramatic changes took place: 1) national-people-based new education was implemented; 2) educational mechanism was reformed; and 3) practicing teaching was improved. All of these greatly enhanced modern education development. The educational transformation at that time is still of great significance to the contemporary educational development.
