Neighborhood──the Metamorphosis of An Idea

邻里（ｎｅｉｇｈｂｏｒｈｏｏｄ）常常作为一种重要的思想反复出现在当代建筑和规划理论中。ＲａｃｈｅｌＫａｌｌｕｓ和ＨｕｂｅｒｔＬａｗ－ｙｏｎｅ在《邻里──一种思想的演变》一文中采用比较的方法，研究了不同历史时期的城市规划理论中邻里思想的特点，归纳总结出邻里思想中的８个基本主题，并对其发展、演化进行了分析，展示了邻里思想的多样化、灵活性及其发展趋势。

The concept of neighborhood appears and reappears as an important idea in contemporary architecture and urban planning theory. In a comparativeway, Rachel Kallus and Hubert Law-Yone studied neighborhood as a planning idea in most urban theories, which developed from the 19th centuryonwards, and identified eight themes, which seem to convey the most essential issues in the neighborhood's idea. The paper, Neighborhood theMetamorphosis of An idea, is a summary of their findings, which traces the evolvement and development of the idea as well as its diversity, flexibilityand trends in the future.
