Translation theories from the view of the cultural turn lay emphasis on translators＇ subjectivity so that translators ascend from the position of loyal servant to that of creative master.Translators＇ subjectivity decides the choice the translating strategies.The paper intends to probe into the translating strategies in English translation of Shoo King by Walter Henry Medhurst who is a missionary of English Protestant and sinologist from the perspective of translators＇ subjectivity so as to analyze how W.H.Medhurst＇s subjective identity is manifested by the choice of translated text and of translating strategies.The paper is designed in hopes that it can be of any contribution to the translation project of Chinese Classics at present and the promotion of Chinese culture toward the world,providing historical experience for enhancing soft power of China and helping enrich the references for the construction of translation theories.
