The failure manner of the car-used brake disc and material properties requirements basing on its working conditions was introduced.As the emphasis,the characteristics and properties requirements of gray iron brake disc and,as well as,the influence of Nb on its structure and properties were discussed.In addition,the suggestion about how to select the inoculant in the gray iron disc production was proposed.The application example of Nb-containing gray iron brake disc was given.
