摘要
英国作家弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫的实验性作品《奥兰多:一部传记》,倘若暂时卸去为人乐道的"双性同体"论的面纱,实际上展现了伍尔夫对传记文学艺术性的美学思考,是一部她称之为"花岗岩与彩虹的姻缘"的"新传记"。在这部作品中,史实成为不可易见的骨干,想象成为纵贯流淌的血液,伍尔夫通过它实践了对于新传记的主张,在继承且颠覆了传统传记要求的历史真实感的同时,强调了虚构的真实对于传主品性的传达乃至传记文学的意义。
Virginia Woolf＇s experimental writing Orlando：A Biography has long been known for its presentation of ＂androgyny＂;however,it also embodies Woolf＇s idea of ＂new biography＂,of the ＂perpetual marriage of granite and rainbow＂ as proposed in her essays.Weaving the historical facts with the writer＇s delicate imagination,Woolf in Orlando：A Biography gives us a different experience from those conventional biographies,practices what she advocates about ＂new biography＂,and highlights the significance of imaginative truth to the subject＇s personality and to the art of biography.
