As the spiritual mentor of the Jewish writer Isaac Bashevis Singer, the philosopher Spinoza has a multidimensional and far-reaching impact on Singer's thoughts and his literary creation, which is typically reflected in his short novel "The Spinoza of Market Street".By employing the novel as a case and Spinoza's philosophy as a reference, the essay tries to explore two issues with the method of intertextuality:first, how Singer switches from ethic world to artistic world through art processing;second, what Singer has discarded concerning Spinoza's world view.In doing so,we can comprehend Singer's complex ideas and unique personal belief.
