The publication of Paradise marks a new high level of Toni Morrison' s reflections on black females' subjectivity. Morrison focuses on the process of black females' struggle for the construction of their identity. From the individual to the group, and from family to the community, black females strive for their own consciousness. They become the successors of black people' s culture and the propellents of the society. In the exploration of self-identity and the pursuit of national liberation, they set a good example to the black race in general.
