An new exploring to the illustrations on the south wall of Cave 217 Mogao Grottoes

本文对敦煌莫高窟第217窟南壁一直被认为是《法华经变》的图像进行重新辨认,找出其佛经依据,并提出整个南壁内容应为《佛顶尊胜陀罗尼经变》的新解释。

This article tries to re-identifing the illustrations painted on the south wall of Cave 217,which was explained as the illustrations to Lotus Sutra by scholar, and took the textual research on Buddhist Canon, this article put forwards an opinion that instead of the lotus Sutra, this illustrations to the Usnisa Vijaya Dharani.
