郑板桥不仅书画艺术高超,学术思想丰富,其佛道之缘以及禅学思想也受到社会广泛的注意。当然,郑板桥的禅是一种乱禅。他喜游禅林,广泛结交佛道高人,但他并不入佛道;他讲佛理,讲道学又讲儒家之道,所以他既想出世又想入世;他特别崇尚道家的无为思想,但又想经世泽民,常怀干一番大事业的英雄之志。当然,郑板桥三禅虽乱,而儒禅在他的禅学体系中还是占主导地位的。
