The function and characteristics of the permanent magnetic device are introduced. The process of the starting of static excitation system and the fast field suppressing process when fault occurs are analyzed. It proves that using this permanent magnetic device can improve the starting success ratio and can reduce the starting time of the excitation of hydroelectric generator. and has no influence on fast field suppressing under fault condition.
