Explanation of the Intelligence Analysis Function of SCI in Scientific Research

SCI被用于科研机构和高校院所作为计量、评价教师和研究人员科研成果的主要指标之一,已经由来已久。这种应用的意义仅限于科研管理政策的量化依据存在,但其作为权威数据库提供的情报分析功能却并未在学科领域研究的实践中获得足够的重视。论述了SCI数据库的分析功能以及可以实现的情报研究价值,并借助情报研究视角阐述SCI对科研课题进行科学研究和科学发现的辅助功能。

SCI is used by research institutions and universities as one of important indexes to measure and evaluate the scientific achievements of teachers and researchers for a long period of time. The significance of this application is limited to the existence of quantitative basis of scientific research management policy. But the Intelligence analysis function provided by SCI, being as an authoritative database, does not get enough attention in the practice of academic research fields. This paper discusses the analysis function and realizable information research value of of SCI database, and with the help of the perspective of intelligence research, describes the auxiliary function of SCI on the scientific research and scientific discovery in the scientific research projects.
