An Analysis of the Pronunciation of Xiamen Dialect from Bernhard Karlgren's Chinese Phonology Research

高本汉的《中国音韵学研究》科学地记录了大量方言字音,其中所记录的厦门方言字音为研究厦门方言史提供了丰富的材料。高氏所记录的厦门音共有17个声母、79个韵母和7个声调,基本反映了20世纪初厦门话的实际语音。

A large number of dialectical pronunciations are recorded scientifically in Bernhard Karlgren＇s ＂Etudes sur la Phonologie Chinoise（Chinese Phonology Research）,in which the research of the pronunciation of Xiamen dialect provides abundant materials for the study of Xiamen dialect history.In his book,Karlgren summarized 17 consonants,79 vowels and 7 tones,which reflect basically the actual pronunciation of Xiamen dialect at the beginning of 20th century.
