美国诗人爱伦.坡将诗歌定义为"美的节奏之创造",认为诗应该以美为目标,给人以美感。他的代表诗作《致海伦》(To Helen)、《乌鸦》(The Raven)和《安娜贝尔.李》(Annabel Lee)无论从忧郁美、音乐美还是古典美来说,都是爱伦.坡独特诗论和美学观的真实写照。
American poet Edgar Allan Poe defined poetry as ＂the rhythmic creation of beauty＂. He thought that the chief aim of poetry is to create beauty, namely to convey a feeling of beauty to the reader. His masterpieces like The Raven, Annabel Lee and To Helen, are the best examples to illustrate his unique theory and views in melancholy beauty, musical beauty and classical beauty.
