从文化角度看英语习语翻译

English Idiom Translation from the Perspective of Culture

习语是某一语言在使用过程中形成的独特的固定的表达方式。由于各民族历史文化背景、地理环境、风俗习惯不同,所产生出来的习语因其承载不同的文化寓意而给人以不同的文化解读,如何解读英语习语背后的这些特点需要借助于不同的翻译策略。文章简要探讨了两种最常见的翻译策略,即直译法和意译法。

Idioms are the unique and fixed expressions in the language.Due to the differences of historical cultural background,geographical environment as well as customs in various nationalities,people can have different interpretations concerning the idioms.In order to interpret those features behind the idioms,we need to resort to different translation strategies.This paper briefly discuss two commonly used translation strategies,say,literal and free translation.
