German functionalist approach stresses that translation is an intentional interaction,and the translation strategy is decided by the expected target text function.The characteristics of tourism translation show that it mainly embodies informative function followed by operative function.The paper holds that the translation norms of public signs should be guided by the functionalist approach through a case study of mistranslation in the scenic spots in Changsha.
