作为"永嘉四灵"代表的赵师秀,诗歌创作具有较为鲜明的特色。其诗取材狭窄,虽不乏关切时局之作,但多数则是记录贫病、羁旅与抒写生死离别之作。诗中频繁出现的"病"、"寒"、"空"、"闲"、"清"、"独"等词,尤其能体现其诗的"清苦之风"。
