A Culturul Perspective on Changes of Vernacular Residence Type in Modern Nantong

南通民居忠实的记录了南通建筑的进化过程,从传统的中国式建筑,到中西结合式,最终发展成西洋式建筑,南通民居的演变过程是中国近代建筑的演变的一个缩影。现存的南通民居从明清住宅到解放后延续近千年。明清住宅反映了南通古代建筑的辉煌。而为数众多的南通近代民居则反映了近代历史上建筑的变革,即西方建筑的拿来,而后与中国建筑的融合,从南通民居上可以生动的反映出这一演变的过程。

the old habitation in Nantong which seems as the neoteric building developing from the Chinese traditional form to the combinative form ,finally becoming the western form makes a recordation of the whole Nantong building evolvement. most of Chinese neoteric cities like this including Nantong city. The existent of the old habitation in Nantong were almost built before the liberating. They all reflect this evolutive process clearly because the old habitation can reflect the character of age lag.
