Exploration on the Ancient Preservation Methods of Baoguo Temple

保国寺位于浙江省宁波市洪塘镇灵山山岙,始建于东汉,其大殿重建于北宋大中祥符六年(1013年),结构独特,气势雄伟,历经千年巍然如初,是宋《营造法式》的实物例证。到底是用了什么样的保护方式和方法,使得这一堪称建筑史上的"活化石"留存至今呢?笔者认为,除了清净的自然环境和少一些人为破坏外,更重要的是各个历史时期对该建筑的维修和保护。

Located at the foot of Lingshan Temple at the Hongtang Town, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, Baoguo Temple was firstly built in the East Han Dynasty, and the Great Hall was rebuilt in the 6th year （1013） during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong in the Song Dynasty. The structure is very unique and magnificent. Although more than one thousand years have passed, it is still as strong as it was and now, it has become an actual representative of the Rules of Construction of the Song Dynasty. Then, what kind of preservation methods were used to enable the＂living fossil＂in the construction history to be preserved until now？ In the opinion of the author, except for clean natural environment and relative less man-made damages, the maintenance and protection to the building in various historic periods are more important.
