This paper sums up the present conditions of the castles and villages at the Great Wall around Beijing. With the planning of Changyu City Village at Changping as an example, the methods of the planning of new countryside and ancient castle protection are elaborated. It is pointed out that the methods of new countryside are of great significance for the protection and renewal of the Great Wall and ancient villages.
