《倭寇图卷》再考

Reconsideration of the Wako-zukan

东京大学史料编纂所收藏的《倭寇图卷》是描写16世纪中期倭寇与明军交战的作品。从旗幡上"弘治四年"(1558年)的字样看,此图卷是明军对嘉靖时期倭寇(嘉靖大倭寇)入侵获胜的象征性描绘。

The Wako-zukan （Illustrated Scroll of Attacking Japanese Pirates）, which is in the possession of the Historiographical Institute, University of Tokyo, is a pictorial scroll depicting scenes of battle between the Ming armyand wokou or literally ＂Japanese pirates＂ in the middle of the 16th century. The date given in the beginning of the scroll, ＂the 4th year of Koji＂ or 1558, suggests that the scroll was produced to celebrate the victory of the Ming army overJiajing wokou, i.e. massive raids upon the coast of China made by wokou in theJiajing Era.
