Historical Review of Guangzhou's Bid for the Asian Games

采用文献资料法、调查法等,回顾了广州申办亚运会的历史,并将其分为两个阶段:1987年3月至2002年8月的第一阶段和2002年9月至2004年9月的第二阶段。成功的原因主要是实行举国体制,具有良好的经济和社会条件,具有悠久的历史文化,具有优良的体育场馆,具有承办国际性大型比赛的经验,具有完善的城市功能。

By adopting the investigation method and literature research,this paper looks back on Guangzhou＇s bid for the Asian Games,which can be divided into two stages：from March 1987 to August 2002 and from September 2002 to September 2004.It is concluded that the success of Guangzhou＇s bid owes much to the state-support system,sound economic and social environment,a long history and rich culture,good sports stadiums and facilities,experiences in holding international sportsevents,and well-established city functions.
