A residual slurry filtration system was successfully applied in the heavy oil fluid catalytic cracking （FCC） unit with the main filter element made of sintering metal screen. The system offered good filtration performances, and could be controlled automatically and stably without any negative impact on the normal operation of the FCC unit. Results of the combustion tests of process furnaces in power plant and petroleum refinery demonstrated that the slurry oil after filtration can be used as blending stocks of fuel oil for heating furnace. The economic benefits are significant.
