The State of Yue emerged in the Taihu area in the Spring and Autumn Period. In its history and culture, there are many noteworthy events and phenomena. Among these, the ceramic ritual objects and musicl instruments made in imitation of bronze and buried in the aristocratic tombs of Yue were important aspects. During this same period, in the aristocratic tombs of the Central Plains and other states, such objects were made of bronze. According to the latest archaeological materials and recent research, the author suggests that this is not a new cultural phenomenon arising after the foundation of the State of Yue, nor a result of the lack of mineral resources, or because of war. Rather, this practice reflects the inheritance and development of the existing system of the Yue people.
