我国理工科大学校名英译

A Study on English Translation of Names of Universities of Science and Technology in China

随着高等院校的对外交流日益频繁,校名的英译问题越来越重要。而近二十年来我国理工科大学的组建和更名热使"科技大学"、"理工大学"、"工业大学"和"工程大学"在英译时难免会出现矛盾。本文对这四类大学英译现状进行穷尽式全面考察,对这四类大学校名里出现的词语进行分析,提出英译这四类理工科大学的参考方法。

With increasingly frequent international exchanges of universities,the English translations of these universities become more and more significant.The formation and rename of universities of science and technology have mushroomed in the last two decades.Therefore,the translation of these universities＇ names will encounter some contradictions inevitably.This paper makes some researches and analyses on these universities＇ translations and proposes a tentative method of their translations.
