益智书会与晚清时期的译名统一工作

晚清以降西学东渐,如何让中国人清楚地认识西学所要传达的意涵,选择合适的中文译名显得尤为关键,以益智书会为代表,他们"组团"涉足这一领域,持续30余年。在继承前人的基础上,他们在自然科学、社会科学、人文、艺术、宗教等门类均有涉及,希望通过译名统一为学校提供标准化的教科书。但无奈译名统一的难度和传教士内部对于译名问题的分歧,使益智书会的工作困难重重。

With western learning spreading to the east in Late Qing dynasty, making Chinese understand the meaning of the western want to eonvery is very important. On the basis of the succession of predecessors they involved in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, art, religion and other categories. The school hopes to provide a standardized uniform translation of the textbooks.
