五四新文艺存在着走向大众的政治价值维度,它表现在五四时期开展的白话文运动、各种文学的"主义"和国民性批判理论等方面。这一维度不仅为文学革命向革命文学的转换埋下了大众的伏笔,而且也为"大众化"讨论以及文艺的"工农兵方向"提供了思想资源,五四之后文学观念的骤变实际上由此肇始。

The May fourth new literature had the political value dimension of going to the mass,which is exhibited in the vernacular movement,literature ＂isms＂,national critique angles and so on.This dimension was not only paved the mass way of the conversion from the literary revolution to the revolutionary literature,but also provided the ideological resources to the mass discussions and the literature of the ＂peasants and soldiers direction＂.The sudden changes in the concept of literature after the May Fourth Movement actually began from here.
