多媒体信息的内容管理是信息化社会的重要基础技术之一．多媒体信息查询和检索系统 Ｍ Ｉ Ｒｃ 是我们设计和实现的一种原型系统．本文首先介绍 Ｍ Ｉ Ｒｃ 系统的体系结构，它能够有效地支持多媒体信息库的建立、操纵和维护；阐述能够描述多媒体内容和时空结构特征，以及信息线索的数据模型；最后介绍用于 Ｍ Ｉ Ｒｃ 的基于内容检索技术及其设计和实现的用户查询接口．

Content management of multimedia information is an important foundational technology for information society. Multimedia information retrieval (by content) system MIRc is a prototype designed and implemented by our project team. In this paper, we introduce the architecture of MIRc which populating and manipulating multimedia information depositories; And a data model describing visual features, the content clue and temporal spatial characteristics for multimedia data is presented; Finally, some content based retrieval technologies and user query interfaces implemented in MIRc are given.
