帕特丽夏·约翰松是美国当代一位卓越的艺术家,四十年来,她与城市规划师、建筑师、生态科学家及其他各种职业工作者一起合作,成功地做过许多重要的大型环境工程。总括她的成功主要有三,一是恰当处理生态与人文的矛盾,实现生态与人文的统一;二是恰当处理功能与景观的矛盾,实现功能与景观的统一;三是恰当处理好自然与艺术的矛盾,尽可以地将自然拉入艺术,也使艺术融入自然。约翰松是一位具有人道主义关怀的艺术家,然而她又是一位具有生态主义意识的艺术家。她将人道主义与生态主义结合起来,认为地球不仅是我们人类的家,也是诸多动植物的家。约翰松自觉地将她的艺术创作实践作为实现人道主义关怀和生态主义关怀的工具。她一直认为艺术可以拯救地球。当然,这艺术不是传统人道主义的艺术,而是人道主义与生态主义相结合的艺术。
As an excellent contemporary American artist, Patricia Johnsson work with city planners, architects, ecological scientists to successfully design lots of magnificent environment projects. Her achievement mainly concludes: she appropriately deals with the contradiction between ecology and humanism, function and landscape, nature and art. Patricia Johnsson is an artist full of humanistic feeling and ecological consciousness. She well combines the hu- manism and ecologicalism and states that the earth is not only humang home but also is animals'home. She consciously utilizes her art in a humanistic and ecological sense. She always believes that art can save the earth. Of course, such art is not the traditionally humanistic art, but an art combining humanism and ecologicalism.
