Sylvia Plath is the most brilliant poet of the 1960s' American Confessional poets, and she is thought as one of the most outstanding poets in the 20th century. Plath found the affecting cantus to interosculate individual/collective unconsciousness, such as suffering, death, renascence, together. Her poems achieve the 'astonishing impact' through subliming her personal existential experiences to artistic experiences, and fulfill the perfect ritual of the poet's self-salvation at the brink of life and death. This article intends to analyze how the poems break through the limits of private experiences to construct the identity of the poet by her poems and fiction, especially Father, Ariel, etc.
