《文学人类学教程》的意义大大地超出了教材的范畴,是一部奠定文学人类学学科基础的著作;《文学人类学教程》最突出的创新和主要建树,就是文学人类学新研究范式的建构。百年来,虽然有不少近现代学者探索文化人类学方法的文学研究,但是明确作为一种整体新研究范式的提出,确实是由叶舒宪完成并由《文学人类学教程》集中体现出来的。对什么是"文学"本体论的反思和建构,是继胡适《文学改良刍议》和陈独秀《文学革命论》后最重要的文学思想。从对王国维"二重证据法"的继承到"四重证据法"的提出,叶舒宪以他倡导的新兴交叉学科——文学人类学,完成了一种对国学传统方法的现代衔接与更新。从这些角度看,《文学人类学教程》无疑是一部划时代的著作。

The meaning of Literary Anthropology：A Course Book is well beyond the scope of a textbook.It lays a basis for the discipline of literary anthropology.The most outstanding innovation and achievement of the book lie in that it constructs a new researching model for literary anthropology. Since the last hundred years,many modern scholars have explore the methods of literature study in cultural anthropology,but the whole system of such methods is indeed firstly put forward by Ye Shuxian in his Literary Anthropology：A Course Book.The reflection and construction of what the＂literary＂ontology are the most important literary thought since Hu Shi＇s Discussion on Literary Reformation and Chen Duxiu＇s Literary Revolution.From inheriting Wang Guowei＇s＂Method of Double Evidence＂to proposing his own＂Method of Quadruple Evidence＂,Ye Shuxian completed the cohesion and renovation in the traditional method of national studies by his newly-established cross-discipline——literary anthropology.In this sense,Literary Anthropology：A Course Book is undoubtedly an epoch-making work.
