This paper presents an overview of FAX(Fortran Automated X lator), an automatic program parallelizer developed for MPP system. The advanced techniques adopted in FAX are described in detail. Test result shows that FAX has achieved usability and efficiency to some degree and that, as a parallelizer for distributedmemory systems, preliminary success of its design has been accomplished.
