Cao Dewang,President of Fuyao Group in Fuzhou,capital of Fujian Province,won the title of China's top philanthropist on April 19,according to 2011 China Charity List released by Hurun and Forbes.Cao Dewang donated 4.58 billion yuan to charity last year.As a grassroot entrepreneur,Cao Dewang has developed his small business to China's largest and the world's third largest automotive glass manufacturer.In May 2010,Cao Dewang donated 200 million yuan to the five Southwestern provinces and cities with strict cooperative clause:the donation should be distributed to nearly 100,000 peasants within 6 months,with less than 1% of error rate and less than 3% of management cost.If the error rate exceeds 1%,the foundation must make compensation 30 times as much as the capital exceeded.This starts a new practice in charity accountability.Cao has donated 40% of his wealth since 1983.However,in his opinion,making donations is merely 'small charity',whereas developing the company into international business is 'great charity'.While many successful people tend to take a commanding position towards the world,Cao Dewang chooses to keep his feet on the ground.
