Whitby Synod and Its Influence on England

664年之前,英国存在罗马传统和爱尔兰传统两种类型的基督教,两者的差异导致664年惠特比宗教会议的召开。惠特比宗教会议使信奉罗马传统的传教士取代了信奉爱尔兰传统的传教士,促使罗马传统基督教与爱尔兰传统基督教相互融合,世俗权力裁决教会纷争的方式,对不列颠教会也产生了影响。

Before 664,there were two types of Christianity.One was Roma Christianity,the other Irish.The differences between them led to the convention of the Whitby synod.After that,the missionary who believed in the Roman tradition substituted for the Irish ones.The Whitby synod urged that Roman tradition Christianity and Irish tradition one mutually fused.The way which secular authority dealing with the disputes of church had an impact on the British Church.
