論高宗、武則天並稱“二聖”事

On "Two Sovereigns":Emperor Gaozong and Wuzetian

唐高宗時期,武則天已經與唐高宗並稱＂二聖＂,傳世權威史書無不言之鑿鑿。然而遍查文獻,使用＂二聖＂一詞的報告,只有屬於宫中範圍的兩例。既不見＂羣臣朝、四方奏章＂的使用,更没有民間的應用。尤其在當時衆多的龍門石窟題記中,更是一例未見。所謂＂二聖＂並稱之説,雖然有所淵源,但都屬於遠離真相的擴大化之辭。

During the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang,Wuzetian and Gaozong together were called 'two sovereigns二聖' as the traditional history books write.Actually,the very words 'two sovereigns' had only appeared twice,both used in the palace city.There were no examples in the official papers,popular works or inscriptions of Longmen grottoes.So the so-called 'two sovereigns' was just the overstatement of the fact.
