Zhang Chao was t he famous philologist who had many works.His studying styles shows amply philology acknowledges and specific ways to studying philology.This paper is to research his methods of studying philology from his works and academic theories,which includes the attitude of collating with circumstance,citing with precision;the thinking of an interest to discovery;the way to studying Chinense philology with Western learning and so on.
