Development of commodity economy leads to a gigantic demand for information.It was in this kind of situation that early Chinese business newspapers in modern Shanghai were born.As the first Chinese business newspaper,the Chinese Shipping List Advertiser made rapid progress in business from the beginning and played its role as pioneer of modern media.This paper is intended to discuss the ＂Chinization＂ course of early business newspapers in modern Shanghai by analysing the background conditions in which the Chinese Shipping List Advertiser was born,as well as its operational conceptions characteristics.
