通过对《汉语新词语词典》和《现代汉语词典》的对比可知,新词语之所以走向隐退既与社会的发展这个外部因素有关,又与语言系统自身特点有关。新词语隐退的外部因素主要有社会政治经济发展和社会价值观念的影响、词语用法的多样化和丰富化的影响以及汉民族传统习惯的影响等,其内部因素则主要有语言自身的明确性、经济性、规范性等原则的影响。
