China's insurance giant Ping An Insurance (Group)Company of China,Ltd.(Ping An) no longer limits itself to insurance products, it wants to acquire a better future with a technologic transformation across the country. Dr Peter Ma,Chairman of Ping An,always hopes to turn Ping An into a comprehensive financial services provider,or a financial Walmart. When customers come to buy property insurance,for example,their personal information will be input into the data base, which means they may also become the potential customers of Ping An's credit card, life insurance or even trust and investment in future. Ping An launched its client service and backup technological center(backup center) in 2008,integrating most of its back-office operations and services,and centralizing and sharing the company's best resources among its different businesses to the full extent.This model enables Ping An to simplify the work at the front,support cross sales,and cut down human costs. Compared to its rivals,Ping An is getting very different.Its customers will be able to enjoy various businesses with only one account,thus the company will win more customers. The move works! According to its annual report of 2010,cross sales from the backup center has contributed to all businesses,even half of its credit card users come from cross sales.And its quarterly report releases that Ping An's net profits has increased 27.8% during the first quarter this year,while its rivals were suffering negative growth.
