Moral Ladder Theory

道德体系应该是一个由低到高的标准体系,也是一个阶梯式向上升级的台阶体系。我们把这个体系分成五层:最底层,是法律层;向上一层,是礼仪和基本行为规范层;再向上一层,是道德基本内容层,它调节着各种社会关系;再向上一层,是道德自律内容层,它规范着人自身的内在关系和个人的生活态度;最高的一层,是道德向真善美实现的高级层面。在这一阶梯体系中,阶梯间相互关系的原则是:①先低后高。对人的道德水准的教育、培训和要求,从低阶做起,向高层进步。②守低求高。底层是强制遵守的,中层是必须遵守的,高层是努力追求的。③以高就低。当两个层面的道德行为发生冲突时,我们认为高层面的行为规范应让步于低层面的行为规范。

The author believes that the moral system should be a standard system which from the low to the high and it is also the system of a step-wise upward to upgrade the steps.We put this system into five levels： The bottom is the legal level;upward level is the system of etiquette and basic behavior standard level;and then is the basic moral content which regulates a variety of social relations;after that is the moral self-discipline content,which regulates a person＇s own internal relations and personal attitudes;The highest level（the top）is the course which achieve the True,the Good and the Beautiful.In this ladder system,the principle of the ladder relationship is：①Low first and then high.On the moral standard of education,training and requirements,starting from the low to the high-level progress.②Keep the low and pursue the high.The bottom level should be forcibly observed,the middle level should be observed necessarily;and the top-level should put efforts to pursue.③Top-level code of conduct should give way to low-level code of conduct.When the two levels of moral behavior conduct in conflict,we think top-level code of conduct should give the way to the lower-level code of conduct.
