摘要
中外文学评论界一般认为《人鼠之间》是一步关于孤独、友谊和美国梦幻灭的小说。以《圣经》为参照,重新解读该作品,发现它同样还具有深刻的宗教寓意,它正是"该隐和亚伯"的现代演绎:小说中的人物面临友谊相伴,还是孤独一生,这也正符合该隐所处的困境。
Many critics from home and abroad have interpreted the theme of John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men, concluding that it’s about solitude, friendly companionship and the delusion of American Dream. With reference to the story ＂Gain and Abel＂ of the Bible, by rereading it, we find that the novel has religious connotation： it is just the modern expression of ＂Gain and Abel＂. Its protagonists are trapped between solitude and companionship, which is also the dilemma Gain faces.
