The MaGrath sisters in Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley are created with abundant split images, which are frequently paradoxical or ironical. The juxtaposition of the split images in the characterization not only brings about a weird dramatic fun for its audiences, but also proves to be a unique approach to exposing the living conditions of women in the patriarchal society of Southern America.
