摘要
詹姆士·乔伊斯的小说《尤利西斯》是对传统小说的颠覆之作。本文选取第十五章"瑟西"(Circe)为研究对象,旨在探求该部分突出体现的喜剧元素和悲剧元素。文章认为,"瑟西"是乔伊斯将戏剧创作和小说创作有机整合的独特实验。他用戏剧手法将小说中激烈的人际冲突、主人公被压抑的欲望和情感表达得淋漓尽致;同时,忽而荒诞逗乐、忽而悲伤的场景使主人公既悲壮又滑稽,将史诗(ep-ic)和讽刺叙事诗(mock-epic)合二为一,实现了无以伦比的文本张力,在内容和形式两方面将《尤利西斯》推向了高峰。
James Joyce’s novel Ulysses subverts the traditional novel. This research paper adopts the 15th chapter ＂Circe＂ as analyzing object, probing into its comic elements and tragic elements. This paper proposes that, the chapter ＂Circe＂ is a unique experiment on combining drama creation into novel creation. Joyce employs techniques in drama writing to uncover the uttermost violent inter-personal conflicts and repressed emotions and aspirations of the protagonist. Meanwhile, the humorous scene and lamentable scene appears at intervals, portraying a both funny and solemn protagonist. In this way, Joyce has joined epic into mock-epic, creating incomparable tension in the text. Thus, in the chapter ＂Circe＂, Ulysses is raised onto its climax in both content and form.
