摘要
本文通过准试验设计研究词块简化、词块解释、词块强化等3种输入加工模式对高校学生英语阅读理解和词汇习得的影响。研究结果表明,词块强化能够有效吸引学习者的注意力,词块强化组的学生阅读理解测试和词汇测试的平均分均高于控制组学生,词块简化组和词块解释组的学生阅读理解测试的平均分低于控制组学生的平均分,但是词块解释组学生的词汇测试平均分高于控制组。这说明词块强化对外语阅读理解和词汇习得的益处以及词块解释对词汇习得的积极影响,同时表明对于英语能力达到一定水平的学习者来说词块简化和词块解释对其英语阅读理解很难产生促进作用。
This quasi-experimental study investigated the effect of the three types of premodified input — lexical simplification, lexical elaboration and lexical (textual) enhancement — on college students’ English reading comprehension and vocabulary acquisition. The results showed that lexical enhancement called participants’ attention to the target linguistic terms and resulted in their better performance on reading comprehension test and vocabulary test. The participants in both lexical simplification group and lexical elaboration group obtained lower mean scores on reading comprehension test than those in the control group whereas the participants in lexical elaboration group obtained a higher mean score on vocabulary test than those in the control group. The results indicated a facilitated role of lexical enhancement in foreign language learning and furthermore a facilitative role of lexical elaboration in vocabulary acquisition. In addition, it signified that for intermediate to higher level foreign language learners, lexical simplification and lexical elaboration hardly show a useful effect on reading comprehension.
