摘要
The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil in June of 1992 adopted a series of documents including Agenda 21. It has drawn global attention to the issues of environment and sustainable development. The global environmental problems that occurred after the industrial revolution have threaten the human development. The solution of these problems need a joint effort of international community as well as all nations around the world because global environmental issues disregard the limitation of national boundaries. During the recent years, discussion on global environment has generally focused on the issues such as Biodiversity, Ozone depletion, climate change etc. Some other issues, as a matter of fact, are also critical to this world since they also make significant impacts on the global environment. These issues has been debated in recent years between north and south countries because they are closely linked to the economic development of different nations, especially to the commercial benefits of those multinational incorporations in developed countries. As the result, the progress on the improvement of these environmental problems is far from that we expected. This paper attempts to introduce these global environmental issues and conclude their potential impacts to the world.
