On Functional Equivalence in Translation and Its Realization Strategies

翻译的功能对等实际上包含两个层面,即信息对等和效果对等。两者就文学文本而言常常是相互对立的,就科技文本而言却又大多是彼此统一的,因此,应根据不同的文本类型采取不同的翻译策略,以实现翻译的功能对等。对于文学文本,应以达到效果对等为目标,主要采取"异化翻译"策略;对于科技文本中的应用文本的翻译,信息对等就意味着效果对等,故只须以达到信息对等为目标,主要采取"归化翻译"策略;而对于科技文本中的科普文本和科研文本的翻译,则应采取类似应用文本却又各有不同的翻译策略。

The concept of functional equivalence in translation includes two levels：information equivalence and effect equivalence.They are often opposite to each other in translating literary texts and mostly unified in translating some scientific texts.Therefore different strategies should be adopted based on different types of texts in order to realize the functional equivalence.As for literary texts,it is necessary to take effect equivalence as the goal and mainly adopt foreignizating translation.But as for the applied text among scientific texts,the realization of its information equivalence just means that of its effect equivalence,so the former should be taken as the goal and domesticating translation mainly adopted.And as for the pop-science text and academic science text among scientific texts,it seems that different translating strategies should be adopted which are somewhat similar to those in the case of the applied text.
