汉口近现代西式建筑的兴起,与汉口成为通商口岸、汉口外国租界的开辟有着直接的关联。至清末民初,汉口的西式建筑已蔚为大观,呈现出风格各异、斑斓多姿的面貌。汉口近现代西式建筑按建筑风格分类,大致有罗马风马西利卡式风格、古典主义风格、文艺复兴风格、巴洛克风格、洛可可风格以及现代派风格,其代表建筑在当前有着特殊的价值与意义。

The rise of Hankou＇s modern western architecture has a direct correlation with the fact that Hankou was once a trading port as well as a foreign concession. Until late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, Hankou＇s modern western architecture had been magnificent, varied and colorful, which can be roughly classified into several categories, such as Romanesque Basilica style, Classical style, Renaissance style, Baroque style, Rococo style as well as modernist style. The representative buildings of Hankou＇s modern western architecture possess a special value and significance.
