The Qualities of Confucians and the Missions of Modernity

无论是渴望实现自身的儒学,还是作为未完成态的现代性,它们内在都要求更新、融合,这使得儒学与现代性之间构成一个联结。儒学虽然古旧,但其极高明而道中庸的哲学品质、将历史文化整合到一个解释系统的能力、对于自由与秩序的构想,都深具时代的生命力;同样,现代性虽然是人类的命运,但其自身存在的谜一般的悖论、对西方中心主义的执著、工具理性与虚无主义的盛行,都将是其无法克服的痼疾,它同样需要自我超越。儒学与现代性的交融将是儒学的复兴和现代性的新方案。

No matter the Confucians which realizes herself or the modernity which is in the being,they all demand updating and fuse.That makes the Confucians and the modernity become a coupling.Although the Confucians are so ancient,it＇s qualities are so bright that we call them The Doctrine of the mean,the ability which make the history and the culture integrate a system of explanation,a scheme about the freedom and the sequence,they all have the era vitalities;Meanwhile,although the modernity is the Man＇s fate,the paradox just like puzzles which itself has,the insistence on the western-centrism,the popularity of the technical-rationality and nihilism,they are all chronic illness that we can not overcome,the modernity also needs self-transcendence.The blend of the Confucians and the modernity will be the renaissance of the Confucians and the new plan of modernity.
