Objective To explore the clinical significances of Th1/Th2 and Tc1/Tc2 cells imbalance in patients with hepatitis B. Methods The different T cell subtypes(IFN-γ and IL-4) were assessed by flow cytometry. The Th1/Th2 and Tc1/Tc2 levels between acute and chronic hepatitis B and among slight, moderate, and severe chronic hepatitis B were compared. Results The Th2 and Tc2 levels were significantly higher in chronic hepatitis B than in acute chronic hepatitis B(t=-3.54,P=0.001;t=-2.27,P=0.026).Compared with the slight group,Th1 and Tc1 levels were significantly higher in the moderate and severe groups(P〈0.01).Compared with the moderate group,Th1 and Tc1 levels were significantly higher in the severe group(P〈0.05). Conclusion Th2 and Tc2 levels are associated with chronic inflammation in hepatitis B cases.Th1 and Tc1 levels increase with the increased inflammatory activity in hepatitis B cases.
