Reflections on Extending the Mandatory Retirement Age in the Aging Society

老龄化步步紧逼,"银发浪潮"冲击"养老大堤",当务之急应寻找有效解决之道,维持养老基金财务均衡,保持国家信用以化解老龄化危机。在不改变原有制度的前提下,延长退休年龄不失为一个立竿见影的有效之举,但延长退休年龄对社会稳定、经济发展、劳动就业、个体利益等都会造成一定影响,在决策前必须通盘考虑,权衡利弊,逐步推进。

We have entered into a new era,an era of aging,in which the ＂silver wave＂ erodes the pension fund at an ever fast speed,putting our retirement plan in danger.So,it is urgent that we find a way to address the problem.Postponing the statutory retirement age to maintain financial balance without changing the existing policies seems to be an effective solution.But delayed retirement will also have a side effect on our society,economy,employment and individual interests.The government should take all the factors into careful consideration before taking actions.
